Dedication

Dedication

Helga Kinsky and Anna Hanusová

On November 14, 2020 we had to say goodbye to Helga Kinsky, née Pollak. It was very difficult and I miss her very much. Helga laid the foundation for the Room 28 Remembrance Project with her authentic diary from Room 28, Theresienstadt.

Equally important is her friend Anna Hanusová, née Flachová (Flaška) and her poetry album. She left us already on April 30, 2014. I miss her very much, too.

For this reason I dedicate this website to these women and friends. They are the "foremothers" of the Room 28 Project of remembrance.  But of course,  I also include in this dedication all the survivors who were so committed to our project.

Stones of Remembrance

"Our friends from Theresienstadt and all those we loved and lost in the Holocaust have no grave where we can leave a  stonein remembrance. That's why we wanted a book and that's why we wanted this exhibition - as our stones of remembrance."

Helga Kinsky, née Pollak

"I wish that by remembering our friends of Room 28 and all the wonderful people who took care of us children in Theresienstadt, the human values and achievements will live on which became so important to us: tolerance, compassion , education, culture, friendship and love."

Anna Hanusová, née Flachová (Flaska)

Handa Drori. From the Compendium

"As one of the girls from "Twenty-eight" - this is how we called our room back then - I hope that our project will achieve its goal. This is important to us for two reasons: Firstly, so that the girls who lived with us in Room 28 and did not come back from the concentration camps will not be forgotten. On the other hand as a reminder for the next generations and as a warning of how easily a new Holocaust could happen if well-meaning people are too unconcerned and allow hateful fanatics to come to power."

Handa Drori, née Pollak
