The Girls of Room 28

The German exhibition was followed by a Czech exhibition in 2006, a French one (2009) and an English one (2010). Due to miraculous circumstances, a Brazilian exhibition was created in 2014 - in a new design and with much more financial input.

Brazilian Exhibition. 2014

The Girls of Room 28

Karen Zolko, São Paulo, realized the Brazilian exhibition with passion and professionalism together with her partner Dodi Chansky. What they achieved exceeded all expectations. Karen created an outstanding exhibition design, the two women won generous support and organized five exhibition openings in outstanding locations, all of which turned into a social event. Karen Zolko and Dodi Chansky made it possible for many school classes to visit the exhibition, accompanied by a specially trained educational team.

Karen Zolko: Remembering Erika

2013-2014, Genoa and Nice

Room 28 was part of the European project "Memory II - Terezin's Voices", a project funded by the European Commission - Program Active European Remembrance, Action 4.   The project was initiated and realized by NEME geie  in Genoa. This rollup was created for the project, with words from Flaška's poetry album and from Helga Pollak's diary, They were read by young participants in Genoa (December 2013) and Nice (February 2014).

Czech exhibition. 2006

A Czech exhibition was created on the initiative of Anna Hanusová, Brno - the soul of the memorial project - and thanks to a private sponsor. It was left to the then newly opened Education Center in Brno, a department of the Jewish Museum in Prague. A new version was created in 2012, which was opened as part of the Holocaust commemoration in the Czech Ministry of Education in Prague.

In 2017 we donated this version to Czech Waldorfschule Svobodná základní škola. in 2021 it was given over to the Terezin Memorial/Pamatnik Terezin.

English Exhibition. 2010

An English version of the  exhibition were created thanks to the support of Germany's  "Bundesbeauftragten für Kultur und Medien" as part of our cooperation with the Gewandhaus Children's Choir Leipzig and their project Brundibár - an opera connects Germany and Israel.

In January 2010 we showed the English version in Israel. Further exhibitions followed in London, thanks to Gabriel Fawcett, translator of the exhibition. He lives in Berlin and works mainly as a historical tour guide and has been associated with the project ever since.

Another version was created in 2013 for the exhibition at the European Commission in Brussels on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day.

For the same occasion, the exhibition came to the United Nations in Geneva in Janaur 2014.

In June 2019 it could be visited at the Millennium Center in Cardiff/ Wales. It was part of the program of the Freedom Festival of the Welsh National Opera House (WNO) and illustrated the historical context of the Terezín performances of the children's opera Brundibár, which was staged at the WNO, directed by David Pountney. The musical director was Tomás Hanuš, musical director of the WNO and son of Anna Hanusová, "our Flaška." Photo: Cardiff/Wales, Millennium Centre
